Time zones can be tricky – Be sure you’re taking your test at the right time!
So… you’ve completed the Casper System Requirements Check, read our awesome resources page, and even watched the webinar. At this point, you are most likely feeling prepared to successfully take your Casper test. However, one of the most common issues applicants have is misinterpreting their test time. This sometimes leads to applicants missing their test window. Hence, it is extremely important to know the exact time your test will start.
The Casper test is operated from Toronto, Canada, which means that all test times for US/Canada are based on the Eastern Time Zone (EDT/EST). Relatively, for Australian applicants, the Casper test is operated in the Australian Eastern Time Zone (AEDT/AEST).
As such, the test times displayed on the acuityinsights.app website and when reserving a test in your Acuity Insights Assessments account, may not match. The test date in your account corresponds to the time zone that you are currently situated in. So you must account for proper adjustments if you do not live in the Eastern or Australian Time Zone regions. Therefore, always double-check and make sure the time zone listed on your Test Reservation is your local time.
Let’s take John as an example. John is a Winnipeg resident who is taking the Casper test on Monday at 8:00 PM EST. Winnipeg is in the Central Standard Time Zone (CST), therefore John is 1 hour behind EST. Because of this time zone difference, he would actually be taking the test at 7:00 PM CST (his local time). When John logs into his Acuity Insights Assessments Account and goes to view his upcoming test on the Reservations page, he will see that his test is at 7:00 PM CST. If on test day, John logs into his account at 8:00 PM CST by accident, he would be a whole hour late for his test!
To avoid making the same mistake as John, check your test time corresponding to your current time zone in your Acuity Insights Assessments Account on the Reservation page under Upcoming Tests:
If you are still unsure of when your test starts, there is a live/real-time countdown clock on the Testing Page in your Acuity Insights Assessments Account. This is found by going to the Test Management tab and then to the Testing Page:
Please note that we do provide a 15-minute window to start your test because we do understand that life happens, but being an hour late for your test will be considered as having missed your test. Missing a test due to a time zone mixup does not guarantee another opportunity to take the Casper test. So don’t forget, check and then double-check your time zone prior to taking your Casper test!
