2025/26 Changes to the Casper Test
Over the last year, we conducted a large-scale study to determine if we could shorten the Casper test while maintaining its established high-level test quality. After exploring a variety of options, we identified a way to reduce the overall test length without interfering with the test’s psychometric properties.
As of the 2025-2026 application cycle, the Casper test length will be reduced by 20% while maintaining valid and reliable results.
What exactly is changing?
- Total test time will now be 65-85 minutes. Previously, applicants could expect the test to take anywhere from 90-110 minutes.
- The number of scenarios is being reduced from 14 to 11. Each test will now consist of 4 video-response scenarios and 7 typed-response scenarios.
- Each scenario will have only 2 associated questions (typed responses used to have 3 questions).
- Typed responses will be scored individually. Previously, a single score was assigned for each scenario
- The response time for typed-response scenarios is decreasing from 5 minutes to 3.5 minutes.
